The New Business Specialist supports the transition of a new Defined Benefit client to Prudential. Works closely with Transition Team and effectively communicates tasks required for successful transition. Also, identifies any potential transition issues/obstacles and offer solutions to resolve problems in a timely and accurate manner. Upon completion of the conversion, the New Business Specialist will be responsible for supporting the calculation software and for processing non-standard calculations associated with this client on an ongoing basis. 

Job Description:
Make changes to ProAdmin coding for existing Prudential clients as a result of plan or regulatory changes. Support projects to enhance calculation functionality for ongoing clients. As needed, support the transition and implementation of Defined Benefit New Business to Prudential. Identify any potential issues/obstacles and offer solutions to resolve problems in a timely and accurate manner. Upon completion of the coding changes, the New Business Specialist will be responsible for communication of changes to Ongoing Operations.

Responsibilities:
The New Business Specialist will be assigned Technical Support Requests (TSRs), which detail plan changes needed, and are responsible for coding, testing, and implementation of changes. This includes:

- Detailed review of the plan document to understand benefit formulas.
- Resolve discrepancies with client and/or actuary regarding interpretation of Plan Documents.
- Code and test calculation software for purposes of calculating benefits, generating benefit statements and for Interactive Internet calculations.
- Proactive troubleshooting and resolution of all coding issues to ensure timing deliverables are met.
- Interact effectively with assigned Actuary for resolution of plan issues and to ensure accuracy of coding.
- Provide guidance for delivery of client/participant interfacing tools.
- Review sample benefit calculations to confirm the data needs.
- Instruct Data Analyst on what data elements to load to Prudential’s recordkeeping system and how to load them, as well as provide guidance for ongoing data submissions, as needed.
- Work with other DB team members throughout organization to increase DB product and process knowledge by promoting a learning environment.

Bachelors degree with evidence of strong mathematical and analytical skills or equivelent work experience. 
Minimum of 2+ years of Defined Benefit (DB) experience, including an understanding of the DB product and various plan designs.
Self-starter with strong work ethic and integrity.
Working knowledge of IRS regulations, legal concepts, and actuarial concepts/principles relating to benefit calculations and statements for DB plans.
Practical application of the plan design features relative to DB benefit calculations and statements.
Knowledge of ProVal, ProAdmin or other DB benefit calculation software existing in pension industry preferred.
Strong PC skills required, including Microsoft Excel background.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrating ability to communicate technical concepts with client and/or outside actuary.
Ability to work in a team environment, including being a subject matter expert for DB New Business.
