This position is for a vacancy in the Actuarial Analysis and Modeling unit. The unit is responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining the models used for forecasting work in Financial Modeling and Product Pricing.
The Financial Modeling area has two primary areas of emphasis:
1. GAAP & Statutory earnings projections, used as a major part of the Multi-Quarter Reforecast (MQR).
2. Asset Adequacy Testing (AAT), a statutory regulatory requirement. In addition, the unit is involved in performing asset/liability studies, addressing other financial management issues, and ad hoc financial projections.
The Product Pricing area's main responsibilities include product pricing/repricing, product profitability, and embedded value analysis. The unit is also responsible for regulatory testing of the products.
The Candidate will be trained in:
· Basic insurance concepts
· Basic actuarial projection concepts
· The financial projection software used by the areas
· Visual Basic, Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access, Microsoft SQL server
The Candidate will be strongly encouraged to pursue at least one of the following career paths:
· Microsoft Certified Application Developer/Solution Developer/Database Administrator (MCAD, MCSD, MCDBA)
· Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
· Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
· Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI)
· Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)/Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
· B.A./B.S. in Mathematics or Computer Science.
Math Course work:
· At least one college level algebra course is required (e.g. Linear Algebra).
· Mathematical logic or Abstract Algebra course work will be a plus.
· Calculus I & II courses are required, Real Analysis or Topology is a plus.
Computer Skills:
· Comfortable with Microsoft Windows environment.
· Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access is a plus.
· Programming Experience in any computer languages is preferred (e.g. Visual Basic, C++, APL, etc.)
· Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages/technologies is a must.
Other Skills:
· Strong analytic skills.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments.
